Lhotse Expedition

OverviewItineraryClients EquipmentIncludes & ExcludesGallery

Mount Lhotse, means “South peak” is a part of the Everest massif, just to the south of Everest. However it being 3 km south of Mount Everest, from which it is separated by the South Col, it is considered an independent mountain. Lhotse at 8,516m is the fourth highest peak in the world. This mountain was first climbed by Swiss expedition (F. Luchsinger and E. Reiss) on 1956. An impressive ring of three peaks make up p the Lhotse massif: Lhotse East or Middle, Lhotse and Lhotse Shar. The South Col connects Mt Everest and Lhotse to each other so the Mt. Everest and Mt.Lhotse Expedition follow the same route across the Khumbu Ice Fall all the way to Camp III at the Lhotse face. On the way to Everest’s Camp 4, just above the Yellow Band, the Lhotse route takes another direction.
